"At approximately 10 a.m, the district was notified by Mount Pleasant Police that a person was in custody due to suspicious behavior," Dr. Kurtis Kotes, Superintendent of Schools, said in an email sent shortly before 10:30 a.m. "They have updated us on the situation and informed us that the person is a non-threat and has been cited for hunting in an unauthorized area. The lockout has now been lifted.
"We appreciate your patience and understanding when things like this happen. The safety of our students and our staff is always of paramount importance to me."
The lockout occurred at the Westlake campus and Columbus Elementary School.
